The Measurement Tool can be used to take temporary measurements of areas on the print using a variety of shapes. Unlike the Annotation Tool, these measurements cannot be saved to the print, nor is access to the Measurement permission based.
Basic Functions
- Draw function for all Measurement Styles will be left-click
- To pan around the print while the Measurement Tool is open, hold the Space bar down and left- click on the print
- On mobile devices, use a two-finger swipe to pan
- The screen will auto-pan if the Measurement being drawn reaches the edge of the screen
Drawing a Measurement
- Load a SMARTPRINT, then click the Tools Menu icon at the top right of the screen
- Click Measurement Tool
- Click the Shape Selector icon in the Measurement Tool Menu to view drawing options
- Select an option to change the Measurement Style
- The default Measurement Style is Rectangle

- When a new Style is selected, the icon in the Measurement Tool menu will change
- Click the Snap To button to change how the shape will fix to the background layer
- Select an option from the menu to adjust the Snap setting
- Background: the shape being drawn will cling to the lines of the floor plan (this is the default setting)
- 45°: when drawing a Polygon or Polyline, the lines will snap to 45-degree angles
- None: the lines of the shape will not snap to the background or a specific angle
- Drawing a Rectangle (Desktop Computer)
- Left-click at the starting point and move cursor to desired size, then left-click at the end point to complete
- Or, left-click at the starting point and drag shape to desired size, then release to complete
- Drawing a Rectangle (Mobile Device)
- Tap screen and drag to desired size
- Release to complete
- Drawing a Polygon (Desktop Computer)
- Left-click at the starting point and move the cursor to the next point
- Left-click at the next point and repeat at all desired points
- When the final point is reached, double left-click to complete
- Drawing a Polygon (Mobile Device)
- Tap the starting point and drag the line to the next point
- Release the line, then tap again and drag to the next point
- When the final point is reached, double-tap to complete
- Drawing a Polyline (Desktop Computer)
- Left-click at the starting point and move the cursor to the next point
- Left-click at the next point and repeat at all desired points
- When the final point is reached, double left-click to complete
- Drawing a Polyline (Mobile Device)
- Tap the starting point and drag the line to the next point
- Release the line, then tap again and drag to the next point
- When the final point is reached, double-tap to complete
- Drawing a Circle (Desktop Computer)
- Left-click at the starting point and move cursor to desired size, then left-click at the end point to complete
- Or, left-click at the starting point and drag shape to desired size, then release to complete
- Drawing a Circle (Mobile Device)
- Tap screen and drag to desired size
- Release to complete
- To delete a measurement from the list, check the box next to the measurement
- Click the Trashcan icon to remove the measurement from the list
- Click the CLOSE button to exit the Measurement Tool
Units of Measurement
- To change the units used, click Units of Measurement in the Menu
- Click an option to change the units used when measuring an area
- Click CONFIRM to switch to the new measurement unit
- Click CANCEL to exit and revert to the previously selected measurement
