How do I make equipment connections?

Connections can be made in all Equipment Systems, though they are most commonly used for the Electrical system to show the flow of power throughout the facility.

The ability to make Connections is a restricted permission in FacilityONE, so please contact support@facilityone.com to have this permission added to a user account.

• To begin connecting items, open an Equipment item and click the Connect button in the Card
  
  
• This will open a window where the user can choose what item(s) the selected Equipment is Fed From and Feeds To.
  • Fed From: upstream connection
  • Feeds To: downstream connection
• Click in a field and scroll through or begin typing to locate an item that feeds to/from the selected item
  
  
• Once the desired item is located, click the item’s name to select it and add it to the Fed From or Feeds To list
  • The location and manufacturer information of the items will display in the list, to assist the user with selecting the correct item if there are multiple items with the same name
    
    
• Click Save to complete the Connection
  • Click the X next to a device name to remove it as a Connection
    
    
• Continue adding to the Fed From/Feeds To fields until all the item’s connections are entered
  • Equipment items can feed to or from multiple other items, as seen below
  • Connections can be made across different floors of the same building, so (for example) a Switchboard located on the 1st floor can feed to a Panel located on the 2nd floor
  • Connections cannot be made between items of different Systems, i.e. an Electrical item cannot be connected to a Plumbing item
    
    
• After Connections have been made, users can follow the chain of connectivity upstream and downstream by clicking on the Name of an item in the Fed From/Feeds to area of an Equipment Card
  • Clicking the name will move the user’s view to the location of that device
